It was a 3 hour class on the potential of the diamond shape in design. We talked about hand and machine piecing and the construction of different shapes from the diamonds and how they can interplay with each other to make gorgeous designs.
The new shop is lovely with light streaming in all the windows. We were surrounded by beautiful quilts and fabrics and it was very inspirational.
When looking through the pictures keep your eye out for all the lovely little pin cushions.

Our lovely tutor was Karen who very patiently explained the basic construction of the chosen blocks, went over sewing techniques and worked with each one of us individually to guide us through the steps. She showed us what we could achieve with lots of sewing and imagination.

So Karen showed us the basic construction techniques and set us to work choosing fabrics, cutting our shapes and sewing them together in the correct order (Look for the pin cushion).

Hooray, Kylie finished her star and it was her first foray into hand piecing. She is a convert to the technique but will never give up the machine. (I have also found a kindred spirit who loves to iron her work WITH steam!)

I'm sorry but mine is not yet done (story of my life).
After the class finished we stayed on and kept sewing together until we had to pack up and go home. We met some lovely ladies and shared a very enjoyable day together. Thank you ladies.
