Secret Chicken Business

Easter is well and truly over so it is time for a new post.

It all started with Lynette Anderson's book "Stitch It For Autumn" that we bought last year. Our friend Jo saw the project "Chicken Table Centre" and mentioned several times (if not more) that she really, really liked this pattern, probably because she owns some chickens "with attitude".

With Jo's birthday in May, we hatched a plan and started preparing our project.
We bought backgrounds on our excursion to Patch N Quilt in Gisborne in January.

Four of us made four chickens each and we had an evening together to decide on and share fabrics. Our secret was still safe.

A white lie was told and we arranged another secret sewing session.  Each of us made a centre block and the little quilt started taking shape.

Sustenance was required.

Borders were added and by now it was approaching 1am.

Anne added the last border at home, during the daylight hours, the quilt was passed to Christine who did the quilting and Robyn finished the binding.

Happy Birthday Jo.

(If you look closely, one of the chickens laid an egg!)

PS. Jo loved her quilt and we loved making it.

Happy Mother's Day to all.
